Our Story
Red Fox Farm is rooted in a shared passion for growing real food and building community.
Ernie, who grew up on a Montana dairy farm, returned to his agricultural roots after a 32-year career with New York Telephone—first volunteering with the Garden Ministry, then beginning to farm 1.5 acres offered by the Sisters of St. Joseph in 2018. Jim started urban farming in 2017 to bring more fresh food to his Long Island neighborhood.
Drawn together by the same mission, Ernie and Jim partnered to grow Red Fox Farm—blending traditional know-how with permaculture principles to feed their community the best local food possible.
Biodynamic for the Land

Certified Organic Practices
Red Fox Farm adheres strictly to organic farming practices, ensuring that all produce is grown without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. This commitment promotes healthier soil, plants, and communities.
Permaculture-Inspired Design
A permaculture forest garden is growing at the farm, creating a self sustaining ecosystem that supports biodiversity and resilience. This approach enhances soil fertility and conserves natural resources.
Community Engagement
Beyond cultivation, Red Fox Farm actively engages with the local community through educational programs and farm to table dinners, fostering a shared responsibility for sustainable food systems.
